Topic: Love
it never flows as well on the page as it does in my head anymore... I am getting rusty...
Love Left Behind
Once my love you were but now,
Our love has flown away somehow.
Old love lost and new love found;
Like dark at dawn, we quickly drowned.
You were my heart, my love, my life,
But tears like rain were brought by strife.
I thought your mate I had become,
In hind sight, love was blind and dumb.
Although I've lost, I've also won.
In death, there's always life to come.
My heart is more steadfast than some.
You have your place inside my mind,
Compassion you will always find,
But don't mistake this heart that's kind,
For love for you I've left behind.
My memories, I can't return,
No matter what I break or burn.
You've left your mark upon my soul,
And losing you was not my goal,
But what you've done I can't undo,
And frankly, now I don't want to.
A different life, a change that's full,
But at my heart strings you still pull.
For someone who has let me go,
The games you play, they plainly show,
That what you want you still don't know.
You have your place inside my mind,
Compassion you will always find,
But don't mistake this heart that's kind,
For love for you I've left behind.
Pain and sorrow stripped me bare;
Allowed a crowd to gawk, to stare,
You promised me the sun and moon,
You held me close but just as soon,
Your tune became abandonment,
And now you mock the time we spent.
You bend the truth to fit your needs.
You only share those fanticies.
The lies you've told you know aren't true,
And still they only help to prove,
That I was right when I left you.
You have your place inside my mind,
Compassion you will always find,
But don't mistake this heart that's kind,
For love for you I've left behind.
Seasons past are seasons changed.
My life's not gone, just rearranged.
A new begining dwarfs our end.
A new love's come, my heart will mend.
My new love's heart has overflown,
And in him I have found my home.
In his eyes I see the glow,
That only honest love can show.
Since you did wrench my heart in twain,
Your thoughtless games you play in vain,
Since in his love it's strength I gain.
You have your place inside my mind,
Compassion you will always find,
But don't mistake this heart that's kind,
For love for you I've left behind.
